The TAFISA World Congresses are a vibrant, dynamic and interactive experience typically bringing together around 400 participants from more than 70 countries to discuss, debate and experience the latest the Sport for All Movement has to offer, and determine its future direction.
The 28th TAFISA World Congress will be held from 1 to 5 November 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany, at the Hilton Hotel. The main topic of the 2023 Congress is "More together than ever". The TAFISA World Congress 2023 is organised by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the Regional Sports Confederation of North Rhine-Westphalia and TAFISA. It is financed by the State Government of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The official Congress language is English. There will no translation services be provided.
The 28th TAFISA World Congress is open to All. We foster a climate of purposeful inclusion and an environment where all can feel safe. We will offer services for wheelchair users and people with impaired hearing at the Congress. All hotel options provide wheelchair-accessible rooms. Please notify us about your accessibility requirements during the registration process in the registration form or contact us via email.
Events are subject to a substantial consumption of resources and cause ecologically emissions. We want to minimalise the environmental impact and raise awareness for a more environmental friendly behaviour at the 2023 TAFISA World Congress through various initiatives, such as waste minimasation or eco-friendly ways of transportation. We will inform you about our actions and behaviours on this website and on our social media channels.
There is no dresscode required. Smart casual or business casual is always a good idea.

Whether you are from a sports organisation, NGO, member of TAFISA or not a member (yet), or even a private person interested, we warmly welcome everyone at the 28th TAFISA World Congress 2023. We offer participation fees for TAFISA member, TAFISA non-member and students. We further have an early bird discount which is valid until July 31.

Yes, we offer a student discount. When registering until July 31, the early bird fee applies and is 150 €. When registering after July 31, the normal student fee of 200 € applies. Furthermore, we have an affordable accommodation option available for Students, the DJH Hostel Düsseldorf. Please note, that students need to provide a certificate of study in English language to benefit from the student discount.
No, we do not offer a special programme or separate fee for accompanying persons. If you want to bring an accompanying person to the TAFISA World Congress 2023 in Düsseldorf, it is mandatory to register that accompanying person as regular participant.

1. Please register online und submit the registration form.
2. We will review your request and confirm it within 10 days.
3. After we have approved your registration, you will receive an email from us which sets out your registration details and a proforma invoice of the participation and accommodation fees. The registration for the Congress becomes valid only upon full payment of the participation and accommodation fee.
4. After you made the full payment of the participation and accommodation fees, you will receive an email from us confirming your registration status. You are then officially registered.
The registration and accommodation fees need to be settled via bank transfer only and within 7 days after receiving the proforma invoice. Details about the payment and the proforma invoice will be sent to you via email, when we confirm your registration request.
Paid participation fees and accommodation are mandatory for the participation at the 28th TAFISA World Congress Düsseldorf.
Please note, that all bank transfer fees need to be payed by the sender (participant). The receiver (DOSB) needs to receive the full invoice amount stated (excluding bank transfer fees and currency fluctuations).
If any participation and accommodation fees have not been paid when they are due, we reserve the right to cancel your registration without warning at any time prior to the first date of the Congress. If we do not exercise our rights of cancellation prior to the Congress, delegates whose participation and accommodation fees have not been paid by the start of the Congress shall be required to pay on-site in order to gain entry.
There may apply bank transfer fees and currency fluctuations when paying the participation and accommodation fees via bank transfer, especially for Non-EU-Countries. Please note, that all bank transfer fees need to be payed by the sender (participant). The receiver (DOSB) needs to receive the full invoice amount stated (excluding bank transfer fees and currency fluctuations). In case we do not receive the invoice amount stated, we demand the participant to compensate the difference, either via bank transfer or by cash on-site the event.
No, we do not offer participation only. If you want to attend the 28th TAFISA World Congress 2023 in Düsseldorf, it is mandatory to register for participation and accommodation.
No, you do not have to register for the sessions in advance. You can choose the sessions you like to participate on site.
If you wish to cancel, you must email us as cancellations will be accepted in writing only. If you cancel up to Saturday, 30th September 2023, we will refund your participation fee minus an administration fee of 100 Euro. If you cancel after 30th September 2023, we will not be able to refund your participation fee. Cancellations must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. Please note that any cancellations that still have payments outstanding will be liable for either the administration fee or the full registration fee, depending on the date and time of the cancellation.
If you cancel your participation, we will not be able to refund your hotel fees no matter your date of cancellation.
Yes, if you cannot attend the Congress, we allow a substitute delegate without charge. Please note, that the substitute delegate must be from the same organisation.
Please send your request latest 7 days before the first day of the Congress via email setting out the name of the delegate who will not be attending as well as the full name of the substitute, position in organisation and contact details. If the substitute delegate has differing requirements (e.g., dietary) from the original delegate, we may not be able to accommodate such changes. We may reject any unsuitable delegates at our absolute discretion.
Please let us know about your special dietary requirements during the registration process in the registration form. You can further inform us about your requirements (until 21 days before the Congress) via email.
We gladly provide 3 hotel options for your stay during the Congress. You can check these options here. All hotel options provide wheelchair-accessible rooms.
Please note that we only offer a full 4-night package covering the official Congress programme from Wednesday, November 1, to Sunday, November 5, 2023. It will not be possible to book fewer nights.
We ask you to check your online registration carefully before submitting it. If you need to change your hotel booking in the official Congress period of November 1 to 5 (travel dates or the hotel option) after your submitted registration, we are permitted to charge an administration fee of 10 Euro per registration for any changes related to the hotel or room bookings.
If you cancel your participation (and accommodation), we will not be able to refund your hotel fees no matter your date of cancellation.
If you want to stay additional nights before November 1 or after November 5, we invite you to choose from our hotel options and request to book those additional nights individually directly through their websites. You will receive further information about booking additional nights in your registration confirmation. Please note, that our offered room rates may differ from the hotel's rates for additional nights.
We only offer a full 4-night package covering the official Congress programme from Wednesday, November 1, to Sunday, November 5, 2023. It will not be possible to book fewer nights. With the 4-nights-package, we can offer you affordable room rates that would not be possible otherwise.
If you want to stay fewer nights, please notify us within the registration form or via email. We can abridge your stay. Please note, that the price for the full 4-nights-package needs to be settled even when staying fewer nights.
Our official ports of entry are Düsseldorf Airport and Düsseldorf Central Station. Arrival and departure transportation will only be covered from our official ports of entry. So please travel to either Düsseldorf Airport or Düsseldorf Central Station, when you want to receive transfer services to the venue.
If you travel by car, Düsseldorf can be reached by the following highways: A3, A44, A46 and A57.
Yes, we will offer transportation between our official ports of entry Düsseldorf Airport and Düsseldorf Central Station to the venue. Please note, that arrival and departure transportation will only be covered from October 30 to November 6, 2023.
Thanks to the excellent and fast connection between Düsseldorf Airport/Central Station and the venue, we will mainly use local public transport for transfer services.

It sometimes takes more than a month to obtain a visa from the German Embassy or Consulate in your country. So we strongly recommend you to complete the registration and payment well in advance to receive the supporting documents for your visa application from us.
The average temperatures in Düsseldorf during the period of the Congress in November would generally be between 5°C and 10°C. Be aware of rain and also bring a rainjacket or umbrella.
